Geelong’s BMX Story

Our exhibition Soaring Eagles, Roaring Thunder: Geelong’s BMX Story explores how BMX took flight in Geelong – from the first Barwon Eagles club in 1980 to today’s thriving scene.

ORIGINS

Known as Djilang to the Wadawurrung people, this land has long been a place of gathering. To this day, sport has played a significant role in bringing people together and the building of community.

GAME CHANGERS

The Geelong region has been a training ground for some of Australia’s most successful, yet humble athletes. Setting new world records, creating new benchmarks, and changing the game in the process.

COMMUNITY

Sport has always been an essential element of the unique culture and identity of this region. And the success of Geelong’s athletes and clubs can be attributed to the unwavering support of this sport-loving community.

GENERATIONS: Cats Fans. Then, Now, Always.

This exhibition is about what it really means to be a fan of the Geelong Football Club. The kind of connection that runs through families, footy seasons, and a lifetime of memories.
